Easy nonograms for beginners

Start with small nonograms and learn three useful deductions: full lines, overlapping groups and empty cells.

Choose a small grid

Start with a 10 × 10 grid in Classic mode. Nonoqo collections progress through increasing sizes, so you can learn what the clues mean before tackling larger illustrations. Spend a few minutes with the tutorial first.

Look for groups that fill the line

Add the clue numbers and the minimum gaps between them. In a row of five cells with clues 2 2, the total is 2 + 1 + 2 = 5. Fill two cells, leave one empty, then fill the last two. No guessing is necessary for that line.

Use overlapping positions

Imagine pushing a group to each end of the line. Any cells covered in every possible position are safe to fill. In a line of five cells with a clue of 4, the middle three cells are always filled. Column clues can help decide the ends.

Take your time

Review one clue at a time and use an X when a cell must stay empty. If you get stuck, revisit a row or column that has gained new information. Save your game and continue later; understanding a deduction is more useful than finishing a picture through trial and error.
